Workshops
Ron is currently expanding his workshop schedule. His approach stems from the Dutch Baroque tradition and offers an exciting opportunity for those artists who want to increase the drama of light and shadow in their work. As stated by the artist in an article in International Artist magazine: “Whether I am painting a still life or figure (or landscape) light plays an important role. I work in the Baroque tradition where light reveals and distills form and all its nuances. This is stage lighting where illumination exposes a mood, a setting or situation or some event about which we are not quite certain. It is light that invites the viewer to make discoveries in the shadows.”
“Beginning, intermediate and advanced students will benefit from these engaging and informative workshops as we explore techniques for bringing more power to your pastel paintings. We will address general and specific approaches when working with pastel for still life and landscape including setting up a dramatic composition and sure fire ways to begin your paintings and keep them under control. We will explore understanding the values of color, learning to develop deeper, richer color and color harmony, when to simplify and when to detail and knowing when your paintings are resolved.
For still life I will also reveal techniques I use with water to create certain textural effects on illustration board.”
